Investigated the ongoing cost-cutting of Missouri’s state budget for the upcoming and current fiscal year; analyzed changes to drug testing policies for Missouri’s welfare recipients while covering Missouri’s House of Representatives.  Shot and edited spot news video of floor debates and interviews with Missouri’s legislators; prepared quick, succinct blog updates for breaking news events, including on-the-floor controversy at the end of the legislative session.

Reported on politics, urban policy and K-12 education in New Orleans, La., as part of the month-long journalism institute. Authored a news analysis about the role of Hurricane Katrina in the 2008 Presidential campaign.  Designed print and Web-based logo still in use by the New York Times Institute.
